How many young carers are there in the world?

The 2011 UK census stated that there were 244,000 young carers in England and Wales, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Research from 2010 suggested the figure was closer to 700,000 and these children were providing a high level of care including personal care.

This research also suggested that the numbers of young carers in the United Kingdom providing varying levels of care reached almost 3 million!
That’s almost 1/3 of children living in the UK today!
